Emergency & key numbers

The ones you would not already have in your phone

Tap any number to dial. The Dominican Republic is on +1, so these dial like US numbers and your phone will not need a country code.

If something is wrong right now

Emergency — police, fire, ambulance 911
One number for all three, nationwide. 112 also redirects to 911 from a mobile. Operators may speak limited English. Government of Canada travel advisory, read 2026-08-10
Tourist police (CESTUR) 809-200-3500
The force that exists specifically for visitors, stationed in the tourist areas, and more likely to have English than the regular line. Use this for theft, scams, lost documents, or trouble that is not life-threatening. Government of Canada travel advisory, read 2026-08-10 (quoted verbatim: "If in tourist areas, contact CESTUR: 1 809 200 3500")
Tourist police, second line (POLITUR) 809-222-2026
The same service under its older name. Both numbers are reported active and the two agency names are genuinely tangled in the sources, so this is the backup if the first does not answer. Published by the US State Department; corroborated across sources 2026-08-10, not read on a .gob.do page directly
US Embassy, Santo Domingo 809-567-7775
For a US citizen who is arrested, hospitalised, missing, or has lost a passport. Answered 24/7. When it asks for an extension, press 0 and say you have an emergency. Av. República de Colombia #57, Santo Domingo. Not for visa questions. do.usembassy.gov American Citizen Services, corroborated 2026-08-10; the official page would not load directly on the day, so this is cross-checked rather than read at source
Roadside assistance, toll highways 829-688-1000
Free, 24 hours, on all major toll roads. Relevant on the 40 to 60 minute run between the airport and Uvero Alto. Government of Canada travel advisory, read 2026-08-10

Worth knowing before you need it. Ambulances are unreliable across most of the country, but Punta Cana is named as one of the four areas where they are more dependable, along with Santo Domingo, Santiago and Puerto Plata. For anything serious, the resort front desk can reach a private clinic faster than a public ambulance will arrive, so call them in parallel. (Government of Canada, 2026-08-10.)

The resort and the trip

Breathless Punta Cana — front desk 809-551-0000
Staffed 24 hours. This is the number for a medical problem on property, a room issue, or a lost item. Playa Uvero Alto Km 275, Provincia La Altagracia. Hyatt Inclusive Collection and Hyatt.com property pages, confirmed 2026-08-10; matches the number already on the reservation
Breathless — US toll-free 855-652-7328
Reaches the reservations side from a US line. Useful before you travel, less useful once you are there. Hyatt Inclusive Collection, confirmed 2026-08-10
Amstar — the resort's tour desk 1-888-854-3899
Excursions and transfers. There is also a desk in the lobby, which is where excursion pricing actually lives; the phone line is the way to reach them before arrival. Captured in the trip research, not re-verified at source 2026-08-10

Links you might need

DR E-Ticket — eticket.migracion.gob.do The migration form, required entering and leaving. Free on the .gob.do site; anything charging you for it is a reseller. Keep the QR codes as screenshots, not just email.
Resort guest app — pwa.stay-app.com Daily schedule, restaurant hours, à la carte booking. Only renders at phone width; a wide window shows a stub. This is the truth for what is happening on any given day.

Checked 2026-08-10. Every number above was taken from a government or operator source and carries its own citation; nothing here was written from memory. Two things were deliberately left off: a Bávaro CESTUR detachment number that traces only to a 2018 forum post, and anything already in your phone's contacts (Shannon, Jorge and Jasmine, the driver) — a second copy only goes stale.
