Aug 19–24, 2026 · the neighbour, with full free-flow access for Breathless guests · reference set
The painted day/night map (punta-cana-map.html) is the one to carry; this is the Onyx half of the reference behind it. Onyx has no public numbering, so letters are ours; the same letters appear on the combined map. Colours are zones. Breathless numbers (1–41) never appear here, so the two systems can't collide.
Access, verified from the official fact sheets: "free flow." Pools, the lazy river and waterpark, the beach, daytime activities and the night show are all open to us — not just the restaurants. Three exclusions only: their Preferred Club areas (sealed to us exactly as our Xhale areas are sealed to them), Cosmic Lanes (paid arcade), and casino-style spend. No wristbands exist at either resort; towel colour is the only tell (theirs brown, ours purple). One caveat: private events can limit exchange on a given day.
Why come over at all: it holds the adults our age. A family resort sounds wrong for a couples trip, but the parents here had kids young too — multigenerational groups and milestone-birthday parties fill it — and the free kids' clubs (9am–10pm) make them adults with downtime. By night they walk to Breathless, because Onyx closes early. So: Onyx by day for the water and the people; Breathless by night, where they'll find us anyway.
One line each, benefit first. dress is casual elegance. gated is Preferred Club only — not ours. $ costs extra — nothing tagged $ is on our plan.

E
SandBar
Beach bar at the main pool's sand end, 10–6.
F
Barefoot Grill (theirs)
Beach grill 10–6 — opens an hour before ours, worth knowing on an early beach day.
G
Water sports centre
Non-motorised included, on the sand at the Breathless end.
H
Preferred Club adults-only pool
Their club wall. Not ours, exactly as the Xhale pools aren't theirs. The walk between resorts passes it.gated

The move
Afternoon
The lazy river + The Mix, or the infinity pool. The change of scene from the Breathless party pool — five minutes' walk apart, opposite energies
Pre-dinner
Prelude with live music, then any of the eleven rooms — Bluewater for the steak night
~9:30pm
The open-air theater show (fire show nights especially), plaza after-party some nights
Late
Don't stay. Onyx closes early — "a family resort where everything closes early" — and its night-owl adults walk to Breathless. Follow them home
Kid calculus, honestly: kids are everywhere here by day — that's the deal, and the lazy river is worth it anyway. The kid-densest zone is the waterpark and main pool; the infinity pool and Prelude-at-dinner run more adult. After 9pm the under-18s thin fast (clubs take them to 10), and none of them can ever follow us back to Breathless.
